Best Tempo Run Ever!

Just ran my best Tempo Run at my race distance EVER!  5k (3.1 miles) in 32:27 [including a few seconds waiting for blind drivers to see me at the end of their driveways].  That gives me a pace of 6:29 / k (10:23 / mi).  I found that whenever I ran with some young and healthy runners I could up my pace to keep with them until they turned off my track - my heart alarm kept beating I was over my 150 though.   My heart rate averaged 141 (80% HR Max).  I need to recalibrate my watch as I'm sure I've improved my cardio fitness in the last few months.

I wonder if I could find somebody just a little faster than me to pace me to a really good time on race day?

I do better with others who are slightly faster too. On race day, you'll have a bunch of pacers...strangers that you can try to keep up with!

I'm coming to race with you.

Got to figure out what it is with you Canadians. I''ll bring my horse?!

I love/hate running with faster people. I love it cause it makes me go faster, but I hate it because it's so hard! : ) Way to go on the 5K

Great job! And yeah, on race day you will run faster than you do normally. You'll have people all around you that you can run with and catch up too. I'm getting excited for you!!

Hey if you're buying everyone tickets I'll be glad to join you!

You will run faster at the race, there will be all kinds of people to chase - just don't go out TOO fast at first! Have fun!

Nice work. You'll have fun on race day. There will be plenty of fast runners to pace you. Choose wisely. Note: Pacing based on Lulu apparel is not always the wisest. Jus’ sayin’.

Can you make me a video where you say 'about', 'house' and maybe throw in a few 'ehhh's' ?
I promise to visit Canada someday if you do. :)

Congrats on a great run. To me that is quite an impressive pace.

Thanks for sending the link! For some reason I was not able to see it through your profile, but maybe I am just missing something.

Awesome job on the tempo run! Having a faster runner for pacing has been so helpful to me in previosu races.

I guess you need to run with some "young and healthy runners" more often! Hehehe.

Wow- I'm learning a lot about Canada on the blogs the last couple of days!

Awesome video! You forgot to warn travellers of the national meal: beer, poutine, ketchup chips and Timbits. ;)

Andrew, as I said back on my blog, I am totally honored by the fact that you went through so much trouble to answer my silly little question.

You know, it's a shame I'll be in Ottawa as opposed to Toronto (am I crazy or is that where you live?) - I'd be happy to at least attempt to run circles around you while you banged out another 3.1!

One last follow up question for you...Can you please explain what in the world is the appeal of poutine?! Could you Canadians have possibly come up with a crazier concoction of food?!

When is the race?

Awesome job on your run! I find that I just need to have some "running mojo" when I run. If I have the mojo, I will go fast. And if there's not mojo, even with a faster runner in front of me, I doubt I will go fast.

I'm moving to Canada just for the insurance - it's totally crap here! Does your Garmin/watch have a virtual racer on it? You can race against it, if so...it's kinda fun!

Sending you an email here soon.

Congrats on a great run! I enjoy running with faster folks, I work harder but hardly know it because of the company. Sometimes they come to run with me because they need to run slow and my slow pace helps them accomplish that, so I guess it's a reciprocal thing. Cheers!

Nice work. I'm with Allie on the video's with the eh's. Love that. My advice for the HR thing is don't listen to it and if you feel like running hard just do it! Good luck on your race.

Shouldn't that $2 coin be called the bearie or something?

I bought my last car with beaver pelts. I guess ARizona is not quite as advanced.

BTW - you totally sounded like I Thought you would. (I still owe you a video)

Great run! If I could be there I would have paced you. I’ve never run a 5k race and it would have been great.
