What am I doing next? Running of course! I'm in discussion with a certain Jill (@ Run With Jill) for a coaching and a training plan. I'm collecting all the information for her. I think I'll have to sign on for 16 weeks since she says I should be able to qualify for the Olympics on a program of hers!
I'm looking at a few fun runs in the next couple of weeks that should be fun for the family:
- Oktoberfest 5k/10k on Oct 17 in Waterloo
- Chilly Willy 10k on Nov 28 at home in Mississauga
- Santa Claus Suit Jingle Bell 5k on Dec 12 in Burlington
And not to keep out of the swing of things I ran on Monday, and did my cross-training today. Tomorrow I'll try a 5k Tempo run as well. But Jill is patiently waiting and will be knocking the dust out of the attic soon, so I don't expect to be on my amateur training program for long!

Welcome to all the new people - thanks for supporting me and keeping me honest!!!!

Let Beth think this was for her but I swear this was for me. :)
Ever tried creating a 12 hour playlist?! HOLY HECK. Will my iPod even go for 12 hours?!
Thank you!!
Oh and tripe stew and head cheese? I'm officially FREAKED out.
yeah, so what I have taken from your post today is that you will have "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" on infinite loop for your next race?! HAHA, never paired up my HR with my music.
I do know however that there are a few songs that I set my HR alarm off every time they are on. Those will be my anchor songs for the last 2 miles of races :)
Way to keep up the race signups! That will FORCE you to run... because we all know we CAN'T WASTE MONEY!!!!
Jill will not disappoint. Cannot wait to see you up on that Olympic podium...I'm tearing up just thinking about it.
That is some list! Andrew, what you need is some race or fun run where you just relax and run. No worries about the time or pace or tempo...just relax and run and have fun all the way to the finish. I like the fun run idea.
You are the MAN!! Thanks for the list. Lots of great stuff there. Rockstar was in my skydive video, just sayin'. We are on the same page.
And I see you've now got the running bug big time. Love it. Better than those bed bugs going around...
jealous that you get a coach... Work hard!
If you work with Jill, maybe you can help crew her 50 miler next year. And mine the year after? :0
Glad to see a 10k (or 2) on your list of races! Also glad to see that Cake- The Distance made the cut. :)
That is quite the mix! If I had a playlist, there would be a few of those on mine!
Did I tell you that a requirement for me to work with you is that you'll have to crew or pace me on my 50 that Kovas is event coordinator for? Dang, I thought I did. Have fun with that!!!
You are on a roll - keep it up, Andrew! I really like your play list. As I reviewed it I thought "Oh! Must add to playlist!!". Well, apart from the Nickelback, LOL. Does the Jingle bell really involve a Santa suit!? Too fun!
Very interesting stuff, but HOW did you determine the BPM? Can I evaluate my own playlist for BPM somehow?
Lisa, I used a program called DJ Mixmaster from here: http://www.mixmeister.com/download.html but I'm sure there are others.
I embarrass my friend when I announce to the world that I like Aqua's "Barbie Girl" and "Around the World."
Sounds like you are on a mission! Love it! Keep up the intensity and the hard work! It does pay off! Cheers
Good luck on the Olympic training plan!
An Olympic marathoner! Jill will kick your a$$ but in a kind and sweet way, I am sure!
Great minds think alike. I actually have several of these songs on my playlist already! There are some other great ones on here I will be adding to it tonight though; thanks for sharing!!
Nice, onward and upward. Good job on getting a Coach. Um, it seems you missed my comment about not wearing an ipod though.
I don't think that I've mentioned it before, but I really like the layout of your blog. It's very professional, very welcoming, and then the tone in your posts is always full of gratitude and hope.
Thank you for your blog!
