16 km (10 miles)
If you are reading this post it means ... I am still struggling to finish my 10 mile run today. Depending on when you are checking in, I am either, trying to find a bush or washroom to pee in, hacking up a slime ball and launching it onto the sidewalk, trying to figure out why my playlist has stopped on my iPad, fiddling with my drink, trying to down some nutrition while running, or looking for a place to pee (AGAIN).
Coach Parker says this is the last long run and we start doing honest speed work for the remainder of my training. But I don't mind the long runs ... I'm just so slow that they start sending search parties out after me!

That is some serious distance. I see Coach Parker has conveniently sent you trucking-it past the hospital towards the end of your run....hmmmm. ;) Just kidding. This is very impressive, Andrew!
Hope it goes well!
Runners are gross, and no said it was going to be easy. Enjoy every minute, as this is proof that you are alive!
This appears to be a fairly popluated area, so hopefully you were able to find a cozy 7-11 bathroom where you could drop of the kids, so to speak.
Wow, 10 miles. That is no small change. Here's hoping it went well!
I live just the other side of the Mississauga/Etobicoke border (hey Neighbour!). There's a Tim Hortons washroom on every corner in Mississauga, isn't there? Way to go on 10 miles.
10 miles?! AWESOME!! :) i hope its going well!! :)
Hey Andrew, Hope it went well. It'll feel good to knock that distance off, that's for sure.
Survived ... but I didn't nick my target pace ... I wanted to run an 11:25 in the middle 8 miles, and I only ran an 11:31.
Plus I don't know how I managed it, but I ran 3 legs of the square into a 17 mph headwind! But mind you the lower left leg was with a nice tailwind. Had to stop for lights pretty much at ever 1/2 mile intersection ... that's what you get for running on a busy Saturday morning.
Barb (@Still Running), I actually stopped at pizza pizza for a refreshing bathroom visit and a slice of deluxe.
Every place on my route except city-run community centers or libraries says "For customers only - ask a staff member for the key". So the pizza slice was a necessity - I did not enjoy it one bit.
Plus perhaps more good news ... I dropped below 250 lbs in my weigh-in after the run!
Hi Andrew,
Went out for 10 also, quit at 6.8.... running in a cold rain here today (yuk)!
Hey, why is this your last long run..are you headed for another 10k race or something?
-paul
Well done! That's a great long run for you. You are making incredible progress.
awesomeness! I like that's it's a big square. Mine is a small one and would be going around several times. =/
*Andrew, please read my blog post yesterday. I am shamelessly plugging it coz I don't want YOU to miss it. Kindly read and you'll understand why =) http://www.hotlegsrunner.com/2010/11/to-dearest-my-blog-buddies.html
Wow, ten miles! Congrats on the distance and the weight loss! Rest a bit and have a great weekend!
I honestly think mapmyrun should include bushes suitable for potty breaks, don't you???
Great job on the 10 miles...
Andrew, congrats on the weigh in and the 10 miles! Both are huge accomplishments.
Um....that's not quite what the coachy said! She said that is the longest of the long runs for awhile - meaning, we won't bump up that distance for awhile. I believe you already ARE doing speedwork, speedy!! Wonder if digesting, or trying to digest, a piece of pizza mid-run had anything to do with pace??? Just a thought! Nice job!!! :)
10 miles- you've come a long way! Great job!
Way to go Andrew!!! I remember my first ten miles....it felt like a marathon to me:) You did great!
i think you're doing great, Andrew! 10 miles is a huge accomplishment.
10 miles - with a strong headwind. You're the man, Andrew!!
Good job Andrew. 16k is a long but trust me, with your determination soon you will look back at it and think it was nothing.
A decent pit stop place is worth a slice of pizza, I think. It is not like you have to eat it.
Congrats.
This may sound stupid but... how the hell do you run with an Ipad?!
Pizza and THEN running, screw your distance, screw your time, you need to focus on this aspect! I would have thrown up a few times after trying that feat.
Good job man. That 250 mark was the tipping point for me.
Yes, I want to know how you ran with an iPad. And how did you manage to run with the pizza too!
Should we send out the search party?
HA - Matty totally stole my comment. i ASSUME you meant iPOD - either that or you're running with a baby biorn and you NEED to post pictures.
Mmmmm, mid run pizza stop... delish
Thanks for the idea.
please check my tool and let me know how it works
